This is a review for the R2 version of Jackass: The Movie. This is just a movie version of the (cult) TV series but features dangerous and crude stunts that MTV would NEVER allow on tv. It says it all. Johnny Knoxville and his pals hurt themselves and others in 85 mins.

Video- In 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen, the video quality varies from 3-7(from grainy blurred to relatively good colours) since the crew uses hand held and hidden cameras. The average is 5. That`s the point of Jackass, since this is supposed to be a collection of stunts and pranks not a scripted movie. It`s obvious that the camera work is very sloppy. The reactions from the public are (obviously) real and injuries are real.

Audio- Jackass is presented in DD 5.1. It only gets really lively in the beginning of Jackass or the end, most of the time the rears are very static. It might as well be stereo(or mono). Likewise with picture, it gets a 5. Sound quality varies due to the use of hand held cameras and putting 5.1 from a poor microphone is near impossible.

Extras- For a change, Paramount seem to put some decent extras for your money. The main extras worth mentioning are the two commentaries. The first one is from Tremain, Knoxville and Elyashkevich. This track is very informative and the three of them provide their anecdotes. It`s strange that the logo in the beginning took longer than filming!

The second one is from the rest of the Jackass crew (Bam Margera, Ryan Dunn, Ehren, Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Wee Man and Preston Lacy). Not as interesting as they laugh a lot. Bam and Ryan mostly talk throughout the commentary while others don`t get as much contributions. Both come with subtitles if you can`t keep up with the commentaries.

There is a Making-Of Jackass: The Movie from MTV. Fairly interesting and offers behind the scenes stuff. There are interviews from many of the Jackass crew and it also features behind the scene stuff you never saw from the main feature. It clocks in about 20 mins.

Look what we have here...more scenes from the Jackass boys doing stunts including an extended scene with Steve-o destroying the ceiling fan(he jumps 3 times instead of 1). The additional scenes are like an extra episode of Jackass. The entire scene clock in at 24 mins. The highlight of the additional scenes goes to Bam Margera attacking Rake Yohn with mustard(you get to find out why) and Bam gets his comeuppance when Rake kicks his car a few times in anger. It`s quite hilarious to see Rake act like a bull and literally rams into Bam`s Audi.

There is an outtakes reel. Short but sweet. Worth mentioning here is Knoxville trying to say Tokyo Japan several times and ends saying Tokyo, Dapan and the old Japanese man learning to flip the bird.

The rest are fillers but I give a quick summary of each one:

Jackass the Movie Promo Spots is basically tv spots for the movie. Notice Bam Margera beating up Phil(as always). Like with all DVD extras (and it`s also Paramount`s choice of extras as seen in their vanilla DVD`s), the Theatrical Trailer is included here.

2 Music Videos: If You`re Gonna Be Dumb By Roger Alan Wade and We Want Fun By Andrew W.K. They are self explanatory. The latter is very silly as it feature the Jackass boys looking like a bunch of drunkards. Cast & Crew Biographies give background info on each person.

The extras are rounded off with a photo gallery and poster gallery. Self explanatory

Overall- Not to everyone`s taste but I love watching the Jackass crew perform dangerous and crude stunts. If you like watching people mutilate themselves and rock music;) then this is for you. Hilarious.
