A fun filled mystical martial arts action adventure. Johnny Cage, Lui Kang and Sonya Blade are all persuaded/tricked into competing in mortal kombat which is a battle for the world. Through the voyage johnny, lui and sonya become great buddies and there are a few laughs and stuff. The action is really good. Plot is predictable but in martial arts/action movie, I dont think that it is that important. The fights were well done and so were the settings.

For a dvd, the picture is really quite poor. I was dissapointed with this. There are signs of grain and scenes lacking sharpness aplenty. The soundtrack however is great. I love the mortal kombat theme and on the dvd it sounds brilliant.
I was ever so dissapointed by the lack of extras. There is virtually nothing there.

Overall I think sometimes people are over critical of action movies. What this film lets down in plot, it makes up in action and this film had some gorgeous action and brilliant effects. A good movie with good re-watchability rating. The dvd is not that good although the film kicks ass so its sort of a mixed thing here. If you like the movie then get the dvd else give it a miss. (I gave the content a 7 but really its about 6.5)
