One of the worst reviewed star trek films ever.yet although it suffers from the odd number curse this is nowhere near as bad as the motion picture or the search for spock.its main faults are mainly to do with paramount themselves who couldnt get the usual effects team in.they wanted more comedy and they wanted to do it on the cheap.when sybok makes dr mccoy go throgh his worst fears its classic trek.while shatner, nimoy and kelly are much better at row row row your boat much better than picard and crew singing oprea in star trek insurrection.the picture is okay for the most part.the sound is more impressive now than when i saw it at the cinema.the extras once again are pathetic considering the price.

OOPS... . This movie actually looks and feels like a chapter from the series.
The plot is dumb, the acting - shallow and visuals - corny.
The video transfer is not good (and that`s putting it mildly). While there are no compression signs, the transfer reveals many scratches and dust particles. Rather than looking like a 12 year-old movie, this movie looks like it was made in the late 70`s. The so called special effects are really hilarious (eventhough they might`ve looked cool back in 1989).
The DD 5.1 soundtrack is flat. The original movie was in stereo and I`m not sure the remastered version added the surrounds, since they are hardly ever used.
The menus are all still.
The disk has no extras whatsoever.
Bottom line - watch out - it`s a BOMB.
